Family Medicine
Lindsey Pearson, NMD
_______________________________

Dr. Pearson is a licensed naturopathic physician providing full scope family practice care. As a family physician, he sees patients of all ages for many conditions.

Dr. Pearson is becoming a leader in celiac disease diagnosis and management, as well as other autoimmune disorders such as Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Dr. Pearson is the first Naturopathic Medical Doctor in the country to be appointed to a Celiac Sprue Association local Medical Advisory Board. He participates with the local chapter, the Southern Arizona Celiac Support Group where he writes newsletter articles on celiac related topics, presents at meetings on up and coming researching findings & new theories related to celiac disease, and is a resource for the members of SACSG.

Over the years, Dr. Pearson's interest areas have grown. He said, "By training I am a naturopathic physician practicing family and sports medicine. In practice, I feel like a detective, an applied physiologist, a counselor, and a biochemist, trying to help my patients identify the root cause of their disease and find the most effective treatments with the least number of undesired side effects." Some of his interest areas include:

Dr. Pearson is in his seventh year of private practice and is very happy with his field of medicine choice. He said, "I enjoy being a naturopathic family practitioner because I am able to work with individuals of all ages, in all aspects of health at the most fundamental levels. I enjoy getting to know individuals and families and seeing people get well. With naturopathic medicine, I have at my disposal not only pharmaceuticals and conventional treatments, but also a number of other treatment modalities such as nutrition, chelation therapy for heavy metal toxicity, herbal therapies, I.V. therapies, naturopathic manipulation & physical medicine, and counseling."

Dr. Pearson is an out-of-network provider with health insurance companies, which allows him to schedule appointments as needed and spend adequate time with each patient. Patients can expect the first naturopathic office visit to last seventy-five minutes. He will gather an in depth interview, physical exam, and order necessary lab work.  Follow up visits last thirty minutes to one hour, depending on the patient's needs. Dr. Pearson believes the focus of healthcare is the patient and getting to know the patient and his or her needs takes time. He said, "My patients can expect quality care and ample time with me to express their needs, questions, and concerns."

Dr. Pearson also sees patients for acute primary care conditions such as colds, flus, sinus infections, urinary tract infections, and ear infections. These appointments do not require the one and a half hour intake; however, Dr. Pearson spends on average of thirty minutes with patients for acute complaints. This ensures that there is enough time for an adequate intake, physical exam, treatment options, and discussion & education with the patient.

Natural medicine is effective in treating specific health issues as well as preventing future illness. The scope of practice for naturopathic medicine includes all aspects of preventive and natural health for your family, from pediatrics to geriatrics. Naturopathic medical doctors can help patients with ailments such as colds and flus, injuries and sleep disorders, as well as with more chronic health concerns such as arthritis and chronic pain, allergies and asthma, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, fatigue, depression, fibromyalgia, digestive disorders, HIV/AIDS, adjunctive care for cancer and much more.
